The Stand

Wow ! It’s been a long time since I made a post. That’s because I’ve been super busy the last several months. I decided to buy a spa and a pool. The only problem was they were attached to a house. So I had to buy the house too. Now, I’m a first time home owner. For those of you that know I’ve lived in a tiny rock house for 21 years, this is a shock. It was time for a change. My address has changed and I guess I’ll have to change a bit too. The house was built in the 1970s and no joke, it has a disco ball over the bar in the party room. There’s no shag carpet, but I bet there used to be some in here. 

I did go canoeing down the Neuse river today. It was a nice way to celebrate Independence Day. The canoe can hardly wait to get in the river again soon. It will.

Jesse Helms passed away today. Somehow it seems fitting that he should go home on this day.

Well, it seems another movie star has threatened to leave the country if a Republican wins. It’s funny how they think we’ll vote against someone to keep them here. Well, it seems for others, this will finally be enough reason to vote McCain.

SUSAN SARANDON, who appeared in three films last year and won kudos for her TV movie “Bernard and Doris,” is still not a contented soul. She says ifJohn McCain gets elected, she will move to Italy or Canada. She adds, “It’s a critical time, but I have faith in the American people.”

I’ve been very busy, but new posts are coming!

The May 6 primary approaches, but you don’t have to wait. There are many locations across the state of North Carolina to vote early. Here is a county list of locations.

Well, I just got my NRA endorsements in the mail. They mail out post cards to members to let them know which candidates are most pro Second Amendment. They do it regardless of party affiliation. On the Republican side they endorsed Fred Smith for governor, Robert Pittenger for Lt. Gov. and John Tyson for judge. The primary is May 6th but you can vote early. The only person I know of on the Democrat side is Bev Perdue. Go figure.

If I find out more, I will update.

The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina in partnership with the USPS and the National Association of Letter Carriers will be having the Stamp Out Hunger Food drive. The food collection will take place May 10, 2008 and it’s easy to participate. All you have to do is leave canned food or non perishable food in your mailbox. You may also make a donation to the Food Bank. If you have too much food to fit in the mailbox, just put it in a bag either in front of the mailbox or hanging from it. Keep an eye out for a Stamp Out Hunger notice in your mail.

Creekside Post Office uses Form 3849 to let customers know that an item is being held for the and may be picked up at the post office window unit. This is common and not a big deal. However out latest batch of forms had the incorrect phone number printed on them for customer service. The number printed on the forms were actually for a “sex chat” phone line instead of USPS customer service. Our customers were quite shocked about the recording that they heard and some of them complained all the way to Washington DC. 

The temperature is up and so is the Neuse river. My canoe is calling me to go for a swim. I can hardly wait for a nice sunny day off to paddle down the river. Camera, cooler, K9 and any other company that might want the day.David
